Childhood: Where Healing and Movement Began
As a little girl growing up in Russia, I discovered two passions that would eventually shape my life's work: helping people feel better and understanding the body through movement.
Whenever my mother had a headache, I would gently massage her head and shoulders, hoping to ease her pain. My sister would ask me almost every evening to massage her before bed, and I loved knowing that something as simple as my touch could help someone I loved feel better.
Long before I understood anatomy or learned professional massage techniques, I had already discovered something that would stay with me for the rest of my life:
I loved helping people heal.
Movement became another important part of my childhood. From approximately age six to ten, I trained in competitive gymnastics in Russia. At such a young age, I didn't yet know words like kinesiology or biomechanics, but I was already learning to understand my body—how it moved, how balance and flexibility worked together, how physical training affected the muscles, and how important recovery was after demanding activity.
Gymnastics taught me discipline, body awareness, strength, flexibility, and respect for what the human body is capable of accomplishing.
Although my years in competitive gymnastics eventually ended, my connection to movement never did.
As an adult, that curiosity became part of my professional education. Massage therapy allowed me to study the body through anatomy, touch, movement, and recovery. I later became a Certified Yoga Instructor and continued exploring movement through pole fitness, expanding my understanding of strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, breath, and the mind-body connection.
Today, all of those experiences influence the way I approach massage.
When a guest walks into my treatment room, I don't simply see the area where they say they hurt. I observe how they stand, how they move, where their body appears to compensate, how they breathe, and where they may be carrying tension.
My background in movement, combined with years of hands-on experience as a massage therapist, has taught me to look at the body as a whole.
That is why I have never believed in giving the same massage twice.
The body changes. Life changes. Stress changes. And the treatment should change with it.
For me, massage is where everything comes together—movement, anatomy, intuition, breath, therapeutic touch, and genuine human connection.
What began with a little girl helping her mother through a headache and discovering what her own body could do through gymnastics eventually became the foundation of how I care for people today.
